Dr. Carl Martin, Executive Director, and cofounder of RCI, has been involved in mentoring in some capacity since he was a player on Danny Ford's National Championship Football team at Clemson University. Carl says, “I mentor because I was mentored by the best and because people never get anywhere in life by themselves.” And he folds that belief, of people over programs, into every aspect of RCI's culture. Carl has spent years developing a specialization in performance goal-setting and relational skill development and brings these things to his team to go deeper into their own goals and life so we can help the children and families we serve to do the same. RCI works with the most vulnerable children in SC by placing a long-term advocate mentor to walk by their side starting in kindergarten and remaining throughout high school graduation. These mentors focus on all areas a child and their family need to succeed from academics to social and emotional growth for the children and resource support for the parents. He leads the organization in such a way that he continues to the cast vision for change in SC, encourage and empower the team, and make sure the mission of RCI is not diluted as we grow towards serving more and more children.
